Mondays Poetry Moment
NARROW LIFE
where did they go
all those seemingly insignificant details
veins in a rock
lines in a leaf
cracks in the concrete
I use to see these things
I use to feel them in my soul
they were as familiar to me as my face, my name
and now, they no longer seem to be there
or I don't care
or I'm going too fast and I just pass them by
not seeing them, any more
and my world is smaller
narrower
this lack of attention to detail
the less I stop and look
the less I see
the less I feel
the more disconnected I become
the more depressed I feel
time keeps on spinning round and round
and I feel so tired and bored with my life
with all of life
I no longer feel the soul of a tree by touching the bark,
or a sheet of paper,
or the wood of my desk,
I no longer feel the life of the tree,
still there in the bark
in the sheet of paper
in the wood of my desk
I drive past trees, with branches to numerous to count
I see
touch
sort
fold
staple reams of paper everyday at work
I put things on my desk and take them off, over and over and over again
where did they go
It's all to much

Post-It Quote/Prompt of the Day
I like to take a walk through my neighborhood at daybreak and at twilight.
At daybreak there is:
electricity in the air
traffic is just beginning
people are waking up, cooking breakfast, getting dressed for the day
At twilight:
the air grows heavy
cars sit in driveways
people lounge on porches, drink cold drinks, relax
1. What time of day do you like to walk?
2. Why?
3. Is there a particular reason that you walk?
(i.e. for health, as stress relief, a family activity, to think, or just because?)
4. Do you like to walk with others or alone?
5. Do you listen to music while you walk or do you prefer silence?
6. Do you prefer to walk outside or inside?
7. What season do you find best for taking a walk outside?
8. Do you like to walk around your neighborhood or do you travel somewhere else to walk?
9. How much time a day do you spend walking?
10. How often during the week do you go walking?
*Describe an extraordinary walk that you've taken. . . .

Blue
There’s a darkening to the sky
Blue sky meets blue water
With definite differences today
Blue sky is cranky
Blue water sympathizes
Moisture heavy in the air
I pull back the curtain
Stand and gaze at the scene
Through the screen
A light mist descends
Fat water drops become puddles
As mist turns to rain

ONE HUNDRED YEARS DIFFERENCE
1909
I pace around and I talk to myself
to all my friends
they live inside my head
I can hear them and no one else can
and they talk back to me
it makes me smile
and people look at me funny
whisper behind their hands
and turn away
I may be a bit tetched?
2009
I pace around and I talk to myself
to all my friends
they live inside my head
I can hear them and no one else can
and they talk back to me
it makes me smile
and people look at me annoyed
tell me to just shut up
and quit talking
on my Bluetooth.

Change and Re-Arrange
This blog of mine has been through a lot of changes as I try to find out what my blog wants to be and what I want to be. I haven't got it right yet. I've come up with yet another idea. I write a lot of poetry, I enjoy taking pictures, and I am forever scribbling notes to myself on bits of scrap paper. When I write, I usually go back and re-write those poems until I get them right, and then file them away in a folder. When I take photo's I usually leave them in the camera and enjoy them that way, unless I've taken the pictures for a specific project. When I scribble notes to myself they usually end up in a box or a notebook and are never heard from again, although I do refer to them occasionally. It's time to get all those things out there for others to see and published to share. (If I make regular posts, perhaps I can also drive some traffic to my blog.)
Monday's . . .Monday's Poetry Moment
(I literally have a million poems. Seriously. Use my poetry as a prompt, a jumping off point for your own work, or just enjoy what I've written. Please let me know what you think of it. Positive or negative.)
Wednesday's . . .A Picture's Worth . . . (?)
(I will post a photo that I've taken. There will only be a photo. No words. Kind of a wordless Wednesday kind of thing. If you use the photo I take in any way, such as: a writing prompt, or re-post it, or print it out and hang it on your wall, or whatever, please let me know how the photo was used.)
Friday's . . .Post-It Quote/ Prompt of the Day
(I intend to liberate my "post-it" thoughts from their secret hideaways and bring them out into the light of a new day. If one of my thoughts invites your curiosity, takes you in new directions and to places that you might not go, please let me know. It will serve as an inspiration for me, as well.)
Well, that's about it. I'm also into other forms of art. I garden, I sew, I embroidery, and quilt. I'm sure photo's of these other artistic pursuits will show up on this blog from time to time, too. Stay tuned ....
